Training Services:

TOOL AND DIE WELDING

This course is designed to enable trainees to repair broken tools, resurface worn tools or dies, and modify existing tools or dies with welding. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the importance of applying the correct welding procedure for the tool or die to be welded, and on understanding the mechanical property changes hardenable steels under go during welding operations. (Approximately 50% of the training will be classroom instruction and 50% will be hands-on welding practice)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the type of steel.
2. Select the proper filler metal.
3. Determine preheat temperature.
4. Make successful repair welds.
5. Apply post weld heat treatments.

TARGET GROUP: Tool & Die Makers, Maintenance Welders
TOTAL HOURS: 80 Contact Hours
CLASS SIZE: 6 Maximum
PREREQUISITES: A proficiency in using the shielded metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding process and the ability to read technical material that relates to welding.
