GAS METAL ARC WELDING (MIG)

The basic gas metal arc welding course is designed to enable a trainee to safely set-up and operate semiautomatic welding equipment. Emphasis is placed on understanding the variations of welding process, and the metal transfers necessary to weld carbon and low alloy steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper. (Approximately 10% of the training will be classroom instruction and 90% will be hands-on welding practice)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Set-up the equipment for welding.
2. Select the proper filler metal.
3. Qualify a test weld in accordance with a national code or specification.

TARGET GROUP: Welders, Millwrights, Machine Fabricators & Repairmen
CLASS SIZE: 6 Maximum
PREREQUISITES: A basic knowledge of shielded metal arc welding is helpful. (stick welding)
